In Memory
It was morning, and we grew up with them;
It was noon, and we laughed and danced with them;
It was evening, and they went away,
But their memories echo softly . . . .
We must not let time cover up their names.

Long and Lonely Highway
I have gone before you
But someday we will meet.
Hopefully, in Heaven,
Won't that day be sweet?
Long and lonely highway,
As far as you can see.
Telling us forever,
Child just wait and see.
I've been here forever,
You're just passing through.
Long and lonely highway,
I'll be missing you.
Many miles to travel
Before the day is done.
Early in the morning,
See the blazing sun.
Miles and miles of nothing
Roll on and on forever.
Sun sinks down before me,
Skin feels just like leather.
Dry and dusty highway,
Tumbleweeds grow crazy.
Cold Panhandle winters,
Air is dry and hazy.
We are gone before you
But years just roll on by.
Faster, ever faster,
We'll see you by and by.
Alma Tippins, 2010
" I wrote this on the way to the class reunion and wasn't sure why until Sandy called and asked me to write a poem for our classmates that are waiting to see us someday. I had to just tweak it a little. Hope ya'll enjoy."
